Welcome to the Great Wall. Starting out in the east on the banks of the Yale River in Leaning Province, the Wall stretches westwards for 12,700 kilometers to Jiayuguan in the Gobi desert, thus known as the Ten Thousand Li Wall in China. The Wall climbs up and down, twists and turns along the ridges of the Yanshan and Yinshan Mountain Chains through five provinces——, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Gansu and two autonomous regions——Ningxia and Inner Mongolia, binding the northern China together.
Historical records trace the construction of the origin of the Wall to defensive fortification back to the year 656 B.C. ring the reign of King Cheng of the States of Chu. Its construction continued throughout the Warring States period in the fifth Century B.C. Walls, then, was built separately by these cal states to ward off such harassments. Later in 221 B.C. The most extensive reinforcements and renovations were carried out in the Ming Dynasty (1368——1644) when altogether 18 lengthy stretches were reinforced with bricks and rocks. it is mostly the Ming Dynasty Wall that visitors see today.
The Great Wall is divided into two sections, the east and west, with Shanxi Province as the dividing line. The west part is a rammed earth construction, about 5.3 meters high on average. In the eastern part, the core of the Wall is rammed earth as well, but the outer shell is reinforced with bricks and rocks. The most imposing and best preserved sections of the Great Wall are at Badaling and Mutianyu, not far from Beijing and both are open to visitors.
The Wall of those sections is 7.8 meters high and 6.5 meters wide at its base, narrowing to 5.8 meters on the ramparts, wide enough for five horses to gallop abreast. Two-storied watch-towers are built at approximately 400-meters internals. The top stories of the watch-tower were designed for observing enemy movements, while the first was used for storing grain, fodder, military equipment and gunpowder as well as for quartering garrison soldiers. The highest watch-tower at Badaling standing on a hill-top, is reached only after a steep climb, like "climbing a ladder to heaven".
There stand 14 major passes (Guan, in Chinese) at places of strategic importance along the Great Wall, the most important being Shanghaiguan and Jiayuguan. Yet the most impressive one is Juyongguan, about 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing.
Known as "Tian Xia Di YI Guan" (The First Pass Under Heaven), Shanghaiguan Pass is situated between two sheer cliffs forming a neck connecting north China with the northeast. It had been, therefore, a key junction contested by all strategists and many famous battles were fought here. It was the gate of Shanghaiguan that the Ming general Wu Sangui opened to the Manchu army to suppress the peasant rebellion led by Li Zicheng and so surrendered the whole Ming empire to the Manchus, leading to the foundation of the Qing Dynasty. (1644-1911)
As a cultural heritage, the Wall belongs not only to China but to the world. The Venice charter says: "Historical and cultural architecture not only includes the indivial architectural works, but also the urban or rural environment that witnessed certain civilizations, significant social developments or historical events." The Great Wall is the largest of such historical and cultural architecture, and that is why it continues to be so attractive to people all over the world. In 1987, the Wall was listed by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site.

我是做英语导游复的，虽然不在北制京，但是也算有所了解。。
现在导游不好做，
一般都没有工资，即使有也很少一点。。。
纯靠客人的小费和提成赚钱。。
现在英语导游遍地都是
但是并不是所有的英语导游都能带团。。
英语6级并不代表你的英语就足够好了。。
我英语专8都过了，带团的时候还时常感觉力不从心。。
况且英语导游并不仅仅需要流利的英语
更需要广博的知识，要给国外的游客讲出中国的文化，宗教，建筑，历史等各个方面的知识。
这一点比英语难得多。。
不要问这个行业好不好赚钱
任何行业都有赚大钱的。。
问题是你适合不适合这个行业，在这个行业你能不能发挥出超人的才能。。。

8. 请问北京地区的导游证怎么考
我是2010年底考的，2011年初刚出成绩，过了。考的是北京的英文导游。
我也是在校学生，大三了。导游证真不难考，对文科生更简单了。每年的8-9月报名，11月中旬笔试，如果通过了笔试，在十二月中旬才有资格参加口试。
北京导游的教材是
《全国导游基础》《导游业务》《北京导游基础》《当代北京概况》《北京主要景点》。崇文门书店都有卖。自学也行，跟着培训班也行。但是学习方法还是一样的。
2010那是上午考北京导游基础，考核范围是《全国导游基础》《北京导游基础》《当代北京概况》，下午考导游业务，就《导游业务》这本书。不过每年上下午的考试内容有可能调换。
《全国导游基础》在笔试中占60%以上，知识也是最琐碎，最多的，所以一定要好好准备这本书，多花点时间上网去搜搜里边的内容，做拓展了解，这样有利于记忆。比如说，中国四大名绣的特点和代表作品，死记硬背的话很痛苦的，还不如上网去搜搜图片，欣赏欣赏，自然而然就记住了。
《导游业务》这个考得比较活，几乎是以案例的形式出现，所以首先要了解主干知识，然后做题，分析。关键还是在于思考的方式吧，有些人根本不用看《导游业务》这本书，都可以轻松通过，有些人看了也难通过，所以如果你没有什么经验，或者很少接触这个行业，能做的就是多看看题，多分析一些案例。
《北京主要景点》，前期准备就是亲自走景点，带着书去对着看。中期的准备就是博览导游词，借鉴写得好的，糅合自己的风格，自己写导游词。这样不容易忘记，毕竟背别人的东西很容易忘，何况口试的时候会紧张呢。在北京，只有过了笔试才能参加口试，所以能参加口试的就是已经经过筛选的了，老师通常都很好，不会为难你。我的口试只准备了14天，而且还是英文的，我得先弄懂中文，再转换成英文，所以准备得非常仓促，加之考试时候多少会紧张，真会紧张得忘记一些重要知识点。。。所以考分并不高。
所以，一定要留足时间准备口试。最好一开始先看景点书，然后每天看一点，这样基础就很牢靠了，滚瓜烂熟了口试就不怕了。还有，讲述的逻辑顺序很重要，你要在脑子里回忆景点的样子，然后带领考官走过景点，一一介绍。。。
《当代北京概况》《北京导游基础》这些，也就看看就完了。与北京的关系比较大，平时出门多留心留心，也有很大的收获呢。
还有，现在英文兼职导游的职位都很难找着了，何况中文导游呢。如果你有能力，就考考小语种的导游，不行起码也考个英文的吧，中文导游真不好混。。。几大旅行社的门槛都是外语导游，起码是英文导游。很多老导游告诉我的。
很多人都感觉导游考试很简单，我也觉得不难，所以有点计划看看书就可以过的~

9. 在北京英语导游的前景怎么样
一方面要看你英语水平，听说流利，没有口音
另一方面，你要熟悉北京的景点内，能讲出历史，文化。
第三 工作容经验很重要，这是很多旅行社注重的，英语好，导游词背得熟练，未必能讲出来。而且新手普遍缺乏处理突发事件的能力。
刚开始做赚不到什么钱，慢慢的，以上三点都做好的话应该会好起来的。西班牙语比较缺，学得精通的话会很有帮助，就怕学不好。。。
